"One must not lose desires. They are mighty stimulants to creativeness, to love and to long life." - Alexander A. Bogomoletz -
Desire is the seed from which the luscious fruit of life is born. Our desires are the silent yet powerful stimulants living inside us that call us forth to be at choice and take action. Some would say it's noble, even spiritual to want for nothing. While this may be true on some level, I actually encourage people to desire anything and everything because our yearning actually assists us to be more intimately connected with who we are and how we design our lives. Tapping into desire brings us closer to our passion, and blending it with our values has us begin to live the lives of our dreams. I say amp up the desire factor, and bring yourself more conscious of what your desires can fulfill. When was the last time you checked in to see what value was having you fulfill (or deny) a desire? How many times have you felt a strong desire for something and then made a different choice? Just think of the aliveness in being more conscious of the power of your yearning, allowing yourself to really drink in the nectar of desire within you, to relish the value(s) flavoring that nectar, and then make your choices accordingly. Maybe you're staying in that less-than-satisfying job to fulfill a longing for security and comfort, but how does that choice honor your values of freedom, adventure, and creativity? While living in the big, bustling city may feed your hunger to be where the action is, to have lots of choices, to be flexible, how does your physical environment enhance or interfere with the peace, stillness, and simplicity you also hold dear? When it comes to desire, there's a lot to consider. Some juicy places to look: What are your desires? Which desires are you fulfilling? Which are you denying? What values have you making your choices? What would you like to start doing differently to be, do have have more of what you want? This week as you drink in the nectar that stimulates you, toast to creativeness, love, and a rich life . . . . . and most of all, to DESIRE. How sweet it is! Clink, Gail |
