"The time which we have at our disposal every day is eleastic;the passions that we feel expand it, those that we inspire contract it; and habit fills up the rest."
 - Marcel Proust -

Time fascinates me.  It is a form of energy that can seem to slip through our hands like grains of sand.  Some people see expansive beaches in front of them, while others hold images of time like hazy dunes in the distant past.  Every human being plays with time differently, and how we play with time has a big impact on how we experience life.

There are some of us who tend to hold time as our most precious commodity.  Some days we hold time way too tight, making choices from a place that says "there isn't enough".  That "time's a-wastin'" mentality usually propels us into what I recently dubbed the "hurry and worry" mode.  While it's true that hurry and worry often get us the end result we're seeking, the process of moving from here to there is usually way less than satisfying and often downright unpleasant.  Then there are those of us who chant "there's plenty of time", continuing to put our desires and dreams on the back burner until tomorrow, next week, next year.  Continually resting in this place inevitably brings us to the point where procrastination becomes a way of life.

So where are you with time?  Do you feel for the most part at ease, or are you struggling a bit?  This week, look at the choices you're making and see how they relate to where you are with time.  Where are you saying "Yes"?  Where are you saying "No"?  How does your perspective on time affect your choices?  Are your choices conscious, or are you making them out of habit?  All great places to explore.

So I've pointed out a couple of extremes and we all know there are countless places on the continuum where we play with time.  The trick is to learn to co-create with it, to move and mold and shape time in a way that really works for you.  Take those grains of sand and fashion them in such a way that not only pleases you in the present moment, but that also builds toward the bigger vision you hold for your life.  Even if you think you have the time thing handled, I challenge you to look at how you can tweak things in such a way to experience even more of what you want.

Today, I invite you to really HAVE the time of your life.

Here’s to endless beaches and sandcastles galore,

Gail
