"When you're up to your ass in alligators, it's hard to remember
that your purpose is draining the swamp."
- George Napper -
Our life purpose is the reason we're here. It's the full
expression of who we are when we're living our highest
potential. Purpose is the thing that gets us out of bed in the
morning, the wind in our sails, the barometer measuring the
height of our fulfillment. When we're living on purpose, we're
alive and connected, being intentional, infused with boundless
energy, and making an impact in our lives and the world. When
we're not living on purpose . . . . well, you're a smart cookie,
you figure it out.
Whatever you do, don't confuse being on purpose with being
comfortable. Having your ducks in a row, all nice and neat
doesn't necessarily mean you're "on purpose". Since the dynamic
of living on purpose is about reaching one's full potential, the
implication of change is inherent. Change often looks mighty
messy and can feel scary as all get out. So, some days living on
purpose means you discover that sweet, little duck pond of yours
has suddenly become infested with alligators, and that's just a
part of the program.
Whether your purpose is as clear as a mountain stream or as
murky as a swamp, you KNOW when you're "on" or "off. This week,
explore the different aspects of your life and look for the
aliveness and potential there. In what areas are you most
excited/connected? What places feel flat and lifeless? What are
you contributing? Where would you like to contribute more?
What's propels you "on"? What pushes you "off"? All great places
to investigate.
There's no good or bad, no right or wrong. Simply said, when
we're on purpose, we're more fully alive . . . . we feel it, and
it shows. Even when (and sometimes just because) those
alligators are nippin'.
What do you choose?
Quack, quack, SNAP!
